The TI CC1352 is an interesting part since it has both a sub-gigahertz and a Bluetooth radio. The sub-gigahertz radio works for long-distance communications. I tested it out to a few hundred yards. I tested an application that would estimate the distance between two nodes using the signal strength indicator. One node was in our dog’s collar and the other was in a beacon. The node in the collar had a buzzer and vibration to warn our dog he was approaching the limit of his roaming area. I planned to add beacons to the application to better define the roaming area and Bluetooth for system configuration. Unfortunately, our dog passed away and I lost motivation to add these features.
